Kotoba Privacy Policy

English version of the policy above. If the two differ, the Japanese text is authoritative.

What you type into the app

Kotoba ("the app") stores the phrases you enter (text, source, tags, background colour) only on your device. The app does not send them to the developer's servers and does not share them with third parties.

Anonymous usage (version 1.3 and later)

Since version 1.3, to improve the app, the following anonymous records are sent to the developer's server. Versions 1.2 and earlier send nothing.

• The kind of action taken, such as opening the app
• Which screen showed the Pro offer, and which feature triggered it
• That a widget was displayed, and its size
• The number of saved phrases (never their text or source)
• App version, OS version and language setting
• A random identifier generated on the device (deleted when you delete the app)
• The country of the connection (IP addresses are not stored)

The following are never sent:

• Anything you typed (phrase text, source, tags)
• Contact details such as name, email address, phone number or postal address
• Advertising identifier (IDFA) or device identifier (IDFV)
• Location
• IP address

These records are not used to serve or measure advertising, are not sold or given to data brokers, and are not linked with any third party's tracking data. No third-party analytics SDK is included.

You can stop sending at any time from the menu at the top right of the app > Privacy > "Send anonymous usage". Stopping also deletes any records not yet sent from the device.
